■Restoration from watchOS beta is impossible in Japan

  • Apple's offcial guide says.

         I'm a Japanese member of Apple developer.   I'm having an unsolved problem of my AppleWatch's OS writing back from 2.2 beta.

     

         I made my watchOS to 2.2 beta for checking my Apps.

         I've read carefully "watchOS beta Software Installation Guide" on https://developer.apple.com/watchos/download/.

         And I recognized the section of...

     

         "Troubleshooting Installation" on this PDF tells that...

    >>the Devices updated to watchOS beta may not be restored to earlier versions of watchOS without assistance from Apple Support. If your device restarts into recovery or your device needs to be restored back to the current GM version of watchOS, visit Apple Support."

  • Operators said.

         So after checking up my App., I tried to have a contact to restore my AppleWatch's watchOS to 2.1.  Because of the AppStore(iTunes Connect) doesn't accept the built made with beta version.

         I clicked the letter "Apple Support" on the PDF "WatchOS beta Software Installation Guide".  It was on 8th. Feb. 2016.

         But a lady just told that "Apple Support" cannot treat any developer's problem and left the telephone number of "developer support" in Japan (World wide developer support, correctly).  This case number in Japanese service was :1045269155.

     

         However the "developer support" also told they cannot treat such kind of restore, and contact to "Apple Support" again.

         It made me little anger.  I conformed, if the "Apple Support" tossed around to "developer support" again, what I shall do.  And she answered to tell "Apple Support" her name.  She was the senior adviser.  This case number in Japanese service was :1045213423.

  • Tossed around and prejudice

         Next person of "Apple Support" was also the senior adviser.  But as I guessed, she repeated "This is not our case, it's developer support".  This answer had not changed with a name of another senior adviser of developer support.

         I asked her to read the Installation Guide even once.  But she refused as she doesn't have an Apple developer ID, and told me to wait until the version of watchOS 2.2 shall be a GM version.  It was 12th. Feb.

     

         Among three calls, they didn't show their good faith to a developer and just tossing the responsibility each other.

     

         And the senior adviser of "Apple Support" also said "We cannot replace to new watch for the curiosity."

         She misunderstood two points.  First, this is not any curiosity of fun.  This is the responsibility to my customers who downloaded my App. (Not so much, as I'm a starter.)  Second, I don't want to change my AppleWatch to new one, just a restoration the OS.

          It means "Apple Support" in Japan is not only ignorance but also having prejudice toward the developers.

  • Who do Japanese developers fight aginst?

         I think the "Troubleshooting Installation" on "WatchOS beta Software Installation Guide" is an official document released by Apple.  And there is the OS restoration service is available in Japan.  So it means there is an obvious false expression.  It can be said I was cheated despite carefully reading the documentation.

     

         I suppose the watchOS 2.2 will be a GM version on middle of March.  My trouble will solved.  But this is not an essence of the issue.

         The watchOS will progress, to 2.3, 2.4 or 3.x, 4.x.  But the Japanese Apple Watch developer will be suffered from this inconvenience.  And It will decrease the motivation for the development of Apple Watch App.  Does Apple hope so?

         What shall the Japanese watchOS developer do?
